VAT treatment, explained

How EUFactura suggests VAT treatment, and what "Suggested" versus "Unknown" mean.

For each invoice line, EUFactura suggests a VAT treatment — for example, standard-rate domestic VAT, or reverse charge for a cross-border EU B2B service — based on your company's country, your customer's country and VAT status, and whether the line is for goods or services.

How the suggestion is made

The suggestion comes from a versioned set of rules, each tied to a specific legal source and an effective date — never a guess from a language model. When a rule confidently matches your situation, EUFactura labels the result "Suggested" and applies it. When nothing matches confidently, it says so plainly ("Unknown") and asks you to review it, rather than picking something plausible-looking.

These are decision-support suggestions, not tax or legal advice. You're responsible for the correctness of your own invoices — if in doubt, check with a qualified professional, particularly for a situation EUFactura flags as needing review.
